Benzoin (Onycha) Essential Oil

Starting at:

Balsamic, slightly bitter vanilla aroma. This aromatherapy is very warming.  Benzoin essential oil is excellent for dry and cracked skin.  It's properties are anti-fungal and antibacterial.  The aroma makes it a soothing inhalation oil for painful coughs or dilute it as directed and rub on chest and throat for respiratory disorders, bronchitis, asthma, colds and laryngitis.  Also use for itching skin, skin infections such as scabies and ringworm, for arthritis or as a sedative.  Use for dandruff, psoriasis or tinea.  Soothing and uplifting, it is helpful for people suffering from low spirits or mild depression.

A biblical oil, mentioned in the Bible as Onycha.  The most viscous of all oils, it is thick and "sticky"; like honey.  As such it will not drip out of a dropper lid.  Dilution in a carrier oil is necessary to make application easier and to carry it better into your skin.  Dilute 1:1 with carrier oil such as O-7 Complex carrier oil.   Find O-7, Sweet Almond and many other carrier oils in the Carrier Oils Category.  Benzoin's plant name is "Styrax benzoin".

"This essential oil comes from tree resin and is the most viscous of all essential oils. It has a characteristic vanilla-like fragrance and was used as a perfume, was blended into anointing oils, and was used to heal skin wounds and comfort, soothe and uplift. Today it is used to stimulate renal output and treat colic, gas, and constipation. It may help control blood sugar levels. It is also inhaled for sinusitis, bronchitis, colds, coughs, and sore throats. It soothes skin irritations and wounds. It is inhaled, applied topically in wound dressings, and massaged into the skin." from The Maker's Diet, by Jordan S. Rubin

Sold undiluted in a 15 ml bottle or also available in a 0.3 oz roll-on.   Roll-on comes prediluted in fractionated coconut oil in a 1:1 dilution ratio so it is immediately ready to apply topically.

This oil is very thick, but pourable, liquid resin.  If it becomes too stiff to pour in the 15 ml bottle, just warm it a bit and it will once again become a pourable liquid.
