Balsam Fir is a North American native tree. The essential oil produced smells pleasant, penetrating and balsamic, as the Latin suggests.
The fir tree - a tree commonly used as a christmas tree today- has been prized through the ages for its medicinal effects and ability to heal respiratory conditions and muscular and rheumatic pain.
Medicinally, it is anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory.
Balsam Fir oil is used for throat/lung/sinus infections, fatigue, arthritis/rheumatism, urinary tract infections, scoliosis, lumbago, and sciatica.
The aroma is grounding, stimulating to the mind, and relaxing to the body.
For safe application, dilute 1 part essential oil to 1 part carrier oil.
